FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  :

Bawk! Design Art & Fashion Textiles Show at Sohung Designs & Collective to open June 29.

Guest Artist Dena Richardson's textile art and collaborator-designer fashions to be highlighted at innovative Lower East Side retailer Sohung.

New York (June 13, 2012)

The custom textiles of Bawk! Design will be featured at Sohung Designs & Collective's latest Art and Fashion Textiles Show, with an opening reception slated for June 29 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at its Lower East Side retail space (312 East 9th Street, between First and Second avenues).

Bawk! Design founder and creative director Dena Richardson is Sohung's most recent guest artist. A compelling sampling of her latest textiles will be featured in stand-alone exhibits and on display in custom-designed fashions and accessories by New York's newest “Young Gun” designers, including downtown stalwarts amparo3, Cheryl Johnston, Yumiko Maki, and the collective's founding creative director, Sohung Tong.

For every one of her collaborators, Richardson custom designed patterns and color palettes focused on reflecting their personalities and aesthetic approaches; knowledge and insight gained from past work among this tight-knit group of Lower East Side artist-craftpersons. “Unearthing the complex connections between aesthetics and lifestyle animates my designs,” says Richardson. “While textiles themselves are ideally works-of-art, it's their use in fashion that leads one down an interesting philosophical path: How does one's appearance reflect one's internal self versus that of the textile or clothing designer?”

Bawk! Design Art and Fashion Textiles Show at Sohung Designs & Collective

begins June 29 with an opening reception from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
